Overview
This is a prime example of what happens when the community salvages a local icon. The Savoy cinema opened in 1956, closed in 1976 and was a mixed-use site on the ground floor, while the mezzanine and projection room were abandoned for 40 years until it was transformed into this buzzing restaurant and bar.
The menu spans casual Italian favourites such as Napoli pizza, cheese boards, and charcuterie platters. Drinks include craft beer on tap, a wine list which skews towards natural and low-sulphur drops, plus creative cocktails.
In keeping with its heritage, community entertainment is important. Wednesday is trivia night, Thursday nights are open mic, with Sunday Sips and Saturday cocktail specials on the weekend.
