The history of Gosford RSL is steeped in fascinating stories. The brewery currently brews three core ales and 7 feature ales and has achieved significant recognition at the 2023 Australian International Beer Awards, securing 2 gold medals and 2 bronze medals.

Founded by Ernest White, with early members meeting at the Brisbane Water District Club under the condition of no liquor sales on the premises. Members ingeniously used coupons to enjoy beer and spirits, maintaining compliance with this rule.

Tragedy struck in 1973, leading to the purchase of the Galaxy Motel in West Gosford. The land originally belonged to George and Agnes Fagan, with their stone house named 'Oak Haven.' It's from this rich history that the brewery draws its name and inspiration.

The brewery's first pale ale, 'Sly Grog,' pays homage to the cheeky early members who exchanged coupons for alcohol in the basement. The first dark ale, 'The Bolthole,' reflects the essence of the original Gosford RSL basement bar, a retreat from everyday life.

'Rusty Sail' is a tribute to Brisbane Water's shipwright heritage, where skilled craftsmen thrived, producing various vessels. 'Dr. Paul's Pils' commemorates Dr. James Paul, the generous property owner who allowed the club's use, despite his stipulation against intoxicating liquor.

These unique beer names showcase the club's strong heritage, honouring its history and the characteristics of its founders and members.

Actively welcomes people with access needs.
