Gosford Area

In the beautiful Gosford region of the NSW Central Coast are magnificent national parks, sparkling waterways and golden sandy beaches. In the great outdoors you’ll find lots of fun and adventure, including swimming, surfing, kayaking, diving, fishing, bushwalking, horseriding and mountain biking.

The idyllic coastline is perfect for seaside getaways, with plenty of accommodation options. Terrigal, Avoca Beach and Killcare are by gorgeous ocean beaches. Ettalong Beach, Woy Woy and Gosford are on the picturesque Brisbane Water, a tranquil estuary waterway for swimming, fishing and boating.

Warrah lookout - Brisbane Water National Park

A popular destination too for day trips, the area is an easy drive from Sydney and Newcastle. There is public transport as well. And you can take a scenic ferry from Palm Beach, in Sydney’s Northern Beaches, across Broken Bay and Brisbane Water to Ettalong Beach and Wagstaffe, near Killcare.

Among the many wonderful attractions is the acclaimed Australian Reptile Park, where you’ll get up close to friendly and deadly native creatures. You can enjoy a walk with Hugo, a Galapagos tortoise, and hand-feed kangaroos, as well as meet koalas, snakes and some of Australia’s largest spiders.

Glenworth Valley Outdoor Adventures is ideal for horseriding. In the Brisbane Water and Bouddi national parks are towering red gums, rainforest, waterfalls and beaches. There are walking and cycling tracks to spectacular lookouts. A vantage point for whale watching is Gerrin Point in Bouddi.

And the tours are unforgettable, from deep sea game fishing to kayaking on the Hawkesbury River, from scuba diving a scuttled warship to learning how to ride a surfboard. With Bara Barang Aboriginal Tours, you can visit ancient indigenous rock engravings and learn about the Dreaming.

In the Gosford Classic Car Museum is one of the top car museums in the world, housing the largest privately-owned car collection in Australia. For art lovers, explore the touring exhibitions in the Gosford Regional Art Gallery. And check out the events calendar for festivals, shows and markets.
