Think Karaoke in a bar singing shoulder to shoulder with friends new and old, a drop-in choir with no auditions and no need to read music as it is taught by ear. Each gathering will be a brand-new song.

The Welcome Choir is an open, safe, friendly, all-genders, all-ages singing group of all singing abilities. Coming to The Welcome Choir is a great way to make new friends, express yourself authentically and step out of your comfort zone. Focused on having a joyful and uplifting experience singing pop songs from many decades of great music together in beautiful harmony.

At the start of each session, we will be led through a fun vocal warm-up helping us to control our voices by the talented and experienced choirmaster, Bek Jensen.

Welcome Choir began in 2016 as a Not-for-Profit organisation in the heart of Newtown, Sydney at the Newtown Neighbourhood Centre. Starting with 20 participants that met once a week, this number grew quickly and within a year, moved to a bigger venue.

Now in 2023 just off the back of its Sydney Fringe Festival season, Bek has taken up the reigns at home on the Coast to continue the enormous legacy as a social enterprise with a  monthly residency.
