HYLIF and Shaampoo Records
Sunday 02 June 2024
Overview
HYLIF pronounced “Highlife”) is the brain child of Gurungai resident Rhodri Davies. With one full length album and one four-track EP under his belt all written and recorded at home with rickety old guitars and vintage synthesizers, his flavour of satirical synth rock has been coercing audiences to move their feet and shake their mullets up and down the Eastern seaboard. His songs address the mundane and the meteoric in equal measure, his retro melodies, idiosyncratic turn of phrase and his sideways glance at everyday provincial life give his music a comforting sense of familiarity and relatability.
Shaampoo Records evolved 10 years ago when a rock kid moved to London only armed with a laptop. Recently returning home, he is ready to showcase his wares, experience and dance moves. Shaampoo Records is back to promote his debut album “When There’s No More Content”, an environmental activism soulful indie funk, punk and electronic culmination. He has a few tricks up his sleeve.
