You are invited to come to a wild edible mushroom hunt this Mother's Day! The foraging season is on in cool climate pine forests around Sydney and the delicacies found there are highly prized by the best Australian chefs.

Take your Mum to a guided wild mushroom foraging tour with an experienced licenced forager for a great day out (including lunch) and an opportunity to learn how to find, pick and process wild edible mushrooms.

The tour will take place in Lidsdale State Forest, which is just a short drive past Lithgow on Great Western Highway. During the tour, participants will learn how to identify and collect edible mushrooms, process them to cook a scrumptious lunch, and see how to preserve the bounty.

The guide will teach the participants how to safely recognise and pick them and will run a safety check of their baskets. The ticket price includes a fresh barbecue lunch made from the day's bounty, a mini-workshop on preserving mushrooms, and recipes for preserving mushrooms.

Participants will return home not only with what they found but also with the confidence to safely recognise two varieties of wild edible mushrooms and knowledge about how to preserve them. What is learned at the tour will allow participants to go to the pine forests to collect these mushrooms by themselves in years to come.

Does not cater for people with access needs.
