Uncle Warren Taggart, a Wonnarua elder and knowledge holder, runs tours for small groups to Aboriginal sites including the Baiame Cave – a heritage-listed Aboriginal site of national significance. Other site visits on Wonnarua country may include caves with paintings and drawings, rock engraving sites, axe and spear groove work sites and culturally significant topographical features in the landscape. Uncle Warren loves to share his knowledge about Wonnarua Aboriginal culture.

Much of Uncle Warren Taggart’s cultural knowledge has come from his father who spent most of his life in the bush in the Singleton region. Uncle Warren is a respected member of the Aboriginal community and has worked to share his cultural knowledge with many of the local schools. He is a member of the Wonnarua Land Council and a custodian of the Baiame Cave.

Uncle Warren is the author of the book, “Spirit of Pace – Aboriginal Sites of the Hunter Region”, 2022, and a collaborator of the exhibition, “Spirit of Place” at Singleton Arts and Cultural Centre that opened in June 2023.
