18 December 2013
New South Wales is the place to be this December, with a calendar full of events throughout the month to ensure you never run out of things to do.
Here is a small sampling of the multitude of fantastic events and attractions on this December 2013.
Wollongong's very own Crown Street Mall will come alive throughout the lead up to Christmas from December 1 – 23 with a menagerie of celebrations lining the street.
Every day there will be craft activities for the kids, a great ice skating rink will provide fun for all the family and Santa's magical workshop will be open to share in the Christmas spirit. Also, see the giant, 20-foot Christmas tree decorated in glittering holiday finery.
Enjoy the Top of the Murray Golf Championship from December 6-8. Held at a collection of golf clubs along the Murray River, including The Corowa Golf Club, Howlong Country Golf Club and Thurgoona Country Club Resort, this event is one of the biggest amateur tournaments in Australia.
There are great prizes for winners during the weekend with a car and golf cart up for grabs in the hole-in-one competitions.
The Australian summer wouldn't be complete without visiting at least one music festival, so plan your trip during the weekend of December 13-15.
Port Macquarie will host this exciting event featuring a lineup of homegrown talent such as You Am I, Mar Haze, Mustered Courage and DJ Healey.
This is an 18 years of age and over event, but kids under 10 can get in for free provided they are accompanied by an adult.
For an event the whole family – or the whole office – can enjoy, plan an evening at the Moree Races this December 21.
This is an evening full of fun with plenty of entertainment on as well as off the track. The Fashions on the Field event offers an exciting opportunity to dress up and the Kids Korner is a great place to let the kids enjoy themselves while the parents get a chance to relax.
Nothing says Australia quite the way beaches, soccer and summer do, which is why this event over the weekend of December 7 and 8 is not to be missed.
More than 4,000 people are expected to turn out for this beach soccer tournament in Wollongong, where the free entertainment will be joined by dancers, cheerleaders, a DJ, Brazilian drummers and a charity game. The kids will love the competitions and the free entry will make this a great event for any family.
If you haven't finished your Christmas shopping yet, be sure to check out some of the fairs going on around the state for a fun weekend and a chance to stock up on great gifts!
No matter where you are in New South Wales this December, there's plenty on the calendar to keep you – and the kids – fully entertained throughout the festive season!
