Hi everyone, my name is Kate. I hail originally from the Hunter Valley, but now live in Sydney.
Having spent my childhood growing up on a rural property, and school holidays camping, is it any wonder I developed a passion for the outdoors? It started in earnest after university, when I took up hiking. I wanted to get out as much as possible! A little later I took up scuba diving, kayaking and skiing. From there, my husband and I bought a 4WD with a roof top tent. We hit peak adventure seeker and it became our mission to get out every weekend to see this beautiful state we call home!
However, I struggled to put into words the beauty of the places I had the opportunity to see, and so took up photography. I was just using a little point and shoot camera, but soon found myself buying a full frame DSLR and my first lenses. I was hooked. Now you won’t catch me out and about without a fully kitted out camera bag. I’ve hiked for days at a time carrying a camera, tripod, multiple lenses and a drone! The discomfort of all that added weight is (nearly) always worth it though.
While I love the beautiful beaches of NSW, it is the mountains I truly crave. I love cold mornings waking up in a frost covered tent in the Snowy Mountains or hiking through the valleys of the Blue Mountains. Though I am still a sucker for a quiet sunrise, with nothing by me and the hypnotic crash of waves upon a beach.
Hopefully these images encourage you to get out and explore. If you want to see more photographs from my adventures, you can find be on:
