Question: Which festival won the Community Event of the Year title in 2012, and makes for a perfect weekend escape?
This annual event is the Coff’s Coast festival for the gay, lesbian and friends community and is being held over the weekend of October 25-27.
It brings together a diverse mixture of art, sport and culture and features the world’s only gay surf competition.
Partygoers are expected to visit from around Australia and the world to partake in events like the welcome cocktail party, the party in the park, the SWEET dance party, fair day, the big banana day out, the surf competition, the barefoot bowls and brekkie, and more.
You can either pick and choose between the events you’d like to attend, or simply grab a three-day festival pass and head along to whatever you feel like at the time.
The event has activity options as diverse as those in the community who attend the weekend festival, whether that’s on the sand, surf, or in the sky.
If you are looking for more detail on the event, the CoastOut organisers have put together this wonderfully detailed and interactive electronic flip book
Coffs Harbour is just a few hours down the coast from Brisbane, or a half-day drive from Sydney, so pack up the car with towels, sunscreen and some great friends and get yourself to this not-to-be missed festival.
Remember that you don’t have to be part of the gay and lesbian community to attend, so long as you’re ready for a weekend-long party then you’ll fit in just fine!
There is plentiful options of accommodation in Coffs Harbour, but the popularity of last year’s event is sure to bring in even more attendees so be sure to book well in advance – especially if you want to grab a spot on the beach!
