Overview
Mystery Bay is a snorkeller's playground, with a string of stunning beaches and rock formations along the Eurobodalla coast that suit everyone from first-timers to seasoned divers. The beach splits into two distinct areas: a larger northern section and a smaller, more sheltered southern beach. The southern end is protected from big swells, making it an ideal spot for beginners to ease in and explore the surrounding rock bars at their own pace. Those after a bigger challenge can head for the deep channels around Mystery Bay, where fantastic snorkelling awaits among the rocky outcrops.
Getting there is easy: follow the Princes Highway south from Narooma for around 10 kilometres, then turn left onto Mystery Bay Road. Once you arrive, there's a superb diving area around the rocks, or you can seek out the huge, sheltered rock pool just north of Mystery Bay Beach. To find it, head north through the primitive campground until you pick up a track branching off to the right; it descends steeply as it nears the pool, so sturdy footwear is a good idea.
Whether you're building confidence in calm, protected waters or chasing a more adventurous underwater experience, Mystery Bay delivers a rewarding snorkelling escape just minutes from Narooma.
