Dancing Mane Workshop With artist Liam Benson
Overview
Imagine horses running free and their long manes rippling in the wind, soft feathered forelocks and fetlocks bouncing whilst they trot...
Or their tails gently swaying as they relax in the shade on a sunny day.
Come and gallop into a world of colour, texture and movement at Glasshouse Regional Gallery. Inspired by the free-flowing manes and tails of running horses, this hands-on workshop invites people of all ages to create your very own tactile artwork in the form of a tassel.
Led by Sensorial artist Liam Benson's in response to his collaborative artwork Hello, good to meet you, this workshop supports you to create a vibrant fringed tassel creation that you can wear as an adornment, use to enhance your movement through dance or drape as a decoration in your home.
Guided by your senses and love of making, you can explore simple weaving and knotting techniques to combine colourful tendrils of fabric and textiles. Experiment with pattern, texture and layering to create a tassel that feels joyful, vibrant and expressive. This is a playful, multi-sensory making experience, with bright colours and soft fibres perfect for curious hands and imaginative makers who love to explore how materials feel, move and transform. Come ready to make, experiment, and let your artwork dance.
