The Mikado proudly presented by Hunter Opera
Overview
A dazzling new Mikado - reimagined in steampunk splendour.
Opera Hunter proudly presents a bold, brand-new production of Gilbert & Sullivan's much-loved The Mikado – this time transported into a vibrant steampunk world of brass, gears, and gleaming imagination.
Director John Campbell re-envisions the classic operetta in the bustling steam-powered town of Brassworks, where Victorian whimsy meets industrial fantasy. Expect all the wit, charm, and melodic brilliance of Gilbert & Sullivan, wrapped in a visually striking aesthetic that gives the story fresh energy while honouring its timeless humour.
The production is conducted by Christopher Berman OAM, leading the exceptional Lake Mac Philharmonic Players. Together, they bring Gilbert & Sullivan's iconic score to life with colour, precision, and theatrical flair.
