Giinagay. Welcome to Nymboida, Gumbaynggirr Country. Wirrgilga means "Silky Oak" and around November each year, this section of the Nymboida River is lined with a stunning display of golden-orange flowers from the majestic silky oak trees. Wirrgilga River Bend is a place where you can see platypus swimming in the pristine waters of the Nymboida River, along with a myriad of avian and terrestrial wildlife. They are your first overnight stop on the Clarence River Canoe and Kayak Trail — the longest mapped whitewater trail in Australia. Your hosts, Deb and Danny, are slowly converting the property to regenerative farming by improving soil health, and Wirrgilga River Bend has Land for Wildlife status to protect native flora and fauna. A riverbank revegetation project has been in place for the past 15 years, during which a large amount of the noxious weed privet has been removed and replaced with native trees and shrubs. All camping proceeds are reinvested into improving the ecology of the property. Note: This property is a working farm with horses and cattle.
