Open Day - River Captains Cottage
Overview
The River Captain's Cottage is a reminder of Moama's riverboat era, dating from when paddle steamers and their crews were central to life along the Murray River.
Built as a simple residence, the cottage reflects the practical, working-class housing of the period and the importance of the river trade to Moama's early growth. Today, preserved as part of Moama's historic precinct, the cottage offers insight into everyday life on the river and the people who worked it and continues to be cared for and shared with the community through open days run by the Friends of Old Moama.
