Experience Yayoi Kusama's iconic pumpkins in Dubbo

The Western Plains Cultural Centre is proud to present The Spirit of the Pumpkins Descended into the Heavens – a captivating installation by one of the most celebrated artists of all time. Known for her instantly recognisable dots, patterns and playful pumpkin forms, Yayoi Kusama has enchanted audiences around the world for decades.

This mesmerising installation transforms part of the gallery into a vivid yellow environment covered in black polka dots. At its centre sits a mirrored box containing dozens of glowing pumpkin sculptures. Viewed through its window, the pumpkins appear to multiply endlessly thanks to the surrounding mirrors, creating a powerful experience of colour, repetition, and infinite space.

Showing exclusively in Dubbo for two years, the work is on long-term loan from the National Gallery of Australia, supported by the Australian Government through the Sharing the National Collection initiative. Don't miss your chance to experience this iconic Kusama installation in the heart of Dubbo – a must-see for art lovers, families and visitors of all ages.
