Glenbernie Orchard: "Darkes Apple Shack"

The 60 hectare farm is located 60 minutes south of Sydney on the Illawarra Escarpment, next to the Dharawal National Park.

The Darkes Apple Shack of Glenbernie Orchard is a fourth generation family owned and operated business where you can purchase fresh and dried fruits, juice, cider, honey and preserves. As far as orchards go, Glenbernie is a must visit.

'Pick your own' opportunities are available between November and April and bookings are essential.

You can also enjoy Darkes Cider tastings, which in 2017 won gold at the World cider Awards in London. Howler, an alcoholic cider with just the right amount of sweetness and a little bit of bite, took its gold medal in the Sparkling Medium category announced recently.

The award caps a strong period for the four-generation, family-run orchard which also scored highly at the Royal Hobart Fine Food Awards with its apple cider vinegar.

Another try-before-you-buy opportunity is with several types of honey.
