From Nelligen, the Clyde River winds 25 kilometres to its tidal limit at Shallow Crossing. Paddlers can explore several tributaries along the way, but should be prepared to negotiate shallow water spots and pebble races.

Launch spots are available on both sides of the causeway at the privately owned campground at Shallow Crossing.

Beyond Shallow Crossing, a further 10 to 15 kilometres of lush freshwater river continues upstream toward Brooman, with the exact distance depending on water level, flow and accessibility. This stretch includes shallow water, small rapids, and trees across the river.

When water levels are high, an alternative is to drive up River Road to Brooman and launch there instead, making for a worthwhile one-way paddle downstream back to Shallow Crossing.
