Ballina local Jeff Templeton has run Beachworkz Surf Shop “for about 20 years”, according to his guestimate, but for the past five years the business has also hired out kayaks, stand-up paddleboards and surfboards.
Hire can be from half-a-day to a week, and Templeton and his team will drop off and pick up the gear for those who don’t have roof racks or a large enough vehicle.
The shop is a five-minute drive to Shaws Bay, which, Templeton says, is “ideal for families with kids as it’s safe, enclosed water and not too deep”.
Expect a good range of surf, skate and streetwear, along with surf boards, boogie boards and softboards, too, plus plenty of great advice about the best surf breaks in the region.
