Not only will The Crossing Cafe’s owner, Karen Benbow, make sure everything on your plate at this Deniliquin eatery looks and tastes delicious, she’s got fabulous local knowledge, too, which she’ll very happily share with anyone who pops in for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Karen works in partnership with local suppliers to source superbly fresh produce. That means menus that change seasonally, but for breakfast, expect dishes such as Mexican-style scrambled eggs made with Bundarra Berkshires chorizo, homemade fruit toast with lashings of Pepe Saya butter and jam (also homemade) and ham-hock baked beans.

On a warm day, take a seat on the timber deck under a market umbrella, and look out over the lawn and peppercorn trees. You might even hear the Edward River (Kolety) in the distance as you sip on your tea or coffee. If the weather’s chillier, there’s always a fire crackling away inside.

Afterwards, drop into the Deniliquin Visitor Information Centre next door to stock up on homemade jams and relishes, all made with local produce.
