Outside the Box surveys the diverse work of Corowa based master printmaker and artist Christine Upton.
In this series of works, birds playfully symbolise individuals and groups, depicting their reactions to different situations and exploring ideas about how contemporary society often categorises people into boxes.
Outside the Box includes 2D and 3D works, with the “box” in each work taking on many interpretations depending on the viewer’s life experiences.
The new works in Outside the Box form the catalyst of this survey exhibition, which spans Upton’s extensive career over over 30 years - carving vinyl and responding to living in a small town in a region bursting with bird filled habitats.
