Participants will create an A5 photopolymer plate using drawings on double matte drafting film. They can use pencils or fine-tipped, pigment-based pens that do not smudge on the film. The film is placed face down on the plate's surface and exposed to UV light, causing the lines to wash away in tap water. The plate is then dried, hardened, and prepared for printing.
A range of inking and printing variations will be demonstrated, including intaglio with transparent relief colour and à la poupée colour inking. Additionally, participants will learn how to create background colours on Japanese paper using coloured pencils and print on the Japanese paper using the chine collé technique.
The workshop will focus on working with an A5 plate, measuring 21 x 15 cm. Participants should bring drawings and visual resources to the workshop to draw the images onto double matte drafting film. There is no need to reverse the image. The drawings will be exposed onto Printight KM73 photopolymer plates. Once the plates are processed, participants will experiment with various printing techniques.
