Joy Engelman is a well known artist who has lived in the Central West for most of her life. Her arts career spans over 45 years and she has been awarded and exhibited many, many times here in Australia and overseas.
A survey of her work was held in Gallery One at the Orange Regional gallery in 2010.

She has explored the backroads and wild places since her mother started taking her on journeys as a child and has painted with a love of Australia since.

Engelman’s interests lay in the use and abuse of the environment as she has watched with dismay the desecration and loss of forest and landscape over her life.

Engelman was brought to international attention when she was awarded a Medici Medal in Florence, Italy in 2007 and since then has been invited to exhibit in many international shows. The ones that Engelman has chosen to be a part of are focused on environmental issues which are close to her heart and her art.

She has been exhibited in: Australian National Library, Canberra in 2007 Fortezza di
Basso, Firenze in 2007 Castle Estense, Italy in 2009 Niagara Falls Museum
Canada in 2018 Maya Museum, Cancun Mexico in 2022 Casoria Contemporary Museum
Naples Italy in 2022
