The Little Cooking School and accommodation
Overview
The Little Cooking School Mudgee is the result of passionate foodie Tamara Howorth’s love for the Mudgee region’s amazing produce. Her mission is to give locals and visitors alike the opportunity to get hands-on with fresh local ingredients and to connect over great food. She has created a place that combines wholesome country hospitality and a genuine gourmet experience, serving up cooking lessons and social supper clubs that combine down-to-earth and hearty cuisine with boutique Mudgee wine.
The Little Cooking School makes use of its setting all year round – from the springtime canopy of wisteria for outdoor dining to the crackling open fire for winter roasts. The beautifully renovated historic homestead is the result of almost nine months of hard work, as Tamara and her husband Richard turned her vision of a charming and sophisticated cooking and accommodation space into a effortless-seeming reality, right down to the vintage industrial light fittings and collection of oversized teacups on display in the light-filled professional kitchen.
And after more than twenty-five years of experience in the hospitality sector, what is Tamara’s favourite thing about this venture? ‘When people take a seat at my kitchen bench and start to get into the experience of cooking and sharing food, you see walls come down, connections start to form. It is such a fun way to spend a work day!’
