Overview
Lions Junction Park—known locally as The Junction—is a peaceful riverside escape located just minutes from the centre of Tumut, where the Goobarragandra and Tumut Rivers meet.
This family‑friendly park is ideal for picnics, relaxing under the shade of mature trees and enjoying the crystal‑clear rivers that frame the landscape. In summer, the Goobarragandra River is a popular swimming spot, while the faster‑flowing Tumut River is perfect for launching a kayak or canoe for a scenic paddle downstream to the local Caravan Park. During trout season, the fishing here is excellent.
Birdwatchers are well rewarded too, with regular sightings of kingfishers, dollarbirds, robins, rosellas, parrots, cockatoos, finches and fairywrens. More common locals—kookaburras, magpies, ravens, crows, magpie‑larks and willie wagtails—are almost always on show.
