Melanoma March Ballina is a family-friendly community event raising awareness and vital funds to support the work of Melanoma Institute Australia in its mission to reach zero deaths from melanoma.

Now in its 15th year nationally, the Melanoma March campaign brings communities together to honour lives lost to melanoma and show support for those impacted by the disease. The Ballina event, now in its fourth year, has raised over $30,000. Sharyn started the Melanoma March in Ballina in 2023 after losing her 24 year old daughter Mikayla to Melanoma.

The event features a 4km walk through Missingham Park, with a welcoming atmosphere for all ages. The event is wheelchair, pram and family friendly, and dogs on leads are welcome.

Australia has the highest melanoma rates in the world, with one person diagnosed every 30 minutes and one person dying every 6 hours. Melanoma is also the most common cancer affecting Australians aged 20–39 years.
