Downham Farm is situated on the banks of the Darling River, fifty kilometres upstream from Wentworth, seventy kilometres north to Pooncarie, and eighty kilometres east to Mungo. The property features three sandbars linked by box and ancient Red Gums, along with a natural billabong and wetland surrounded by magnificent Red Gum forest. Part of the farm includes large red sandhills, where a registered gravesite is located. Downham Farm is rich in historical, ecological, and cultural significance, including early paddle boat mooring and wood harvesting. A hundred-year-old restored homestead and cottage tell the story of the past, complemented by rustic horse stables and a blacksmith shop. The farm is abundant in natural beauty and wildlife. For modern amenities, Downham offers a basketball court, tennis court, and a golf driving range with a country twist. Guests can enjoy day access to the river, a boat ramp, kayaking, fishing, fire cooking (on non-fire-ban days), BBQ areas, birdwatching, walking trails, bike and jogging tracks, self-guided tours, a woodshed, an old telegraph track, an airstrip, a rabbit-proof fence, and our version of Big Red Sandhill.
