Just 400 metres from Peak Hill's main street, this unique tourist attraction blends gold mining history with modern techniques. Once active from 1893 to 1917, and again from 1996 to 2002, the mine has produced over 200,000 ounces of gold.

Now a scenic, heritage-rich site, it features walking trails and viewing platforms offering stunning views of both historic and recent mining operations. Set in an elevated bushland location, it's ideal for a short walk, with easy access paths available for all fitness levels.

Self-guided tours are now available daily (free entry) between 9 am and 4 pm.

General Entry gives visitors access to picnic areas, and walking trails.

Group guided tours are offered all year round by appointment (subject to Guide availability). These guided tours allow visitors to gain a greater understanding of the mine, its history and methods used. Group tours are available to groups of 20 or more people and must be pre-booked by calling the Parkes Visitor Information Centre.

Peak Hill Open Cut Experience is a must-visit stop along the Newell Highway.
