Overview
Bermagooey is a single-estate honey from Nerimbah Farm, a private property in Bermagui on the New South Wales Far South Coast, where pasture, native bushland and ocean meet.
The farm is bordered by protected forest, coastal heath and sheltered bush, and the bees range freely across all of it. Something is in flower in every month of the year. The land leads; the honey follows.
Bermagooey is harvested from the same hives at the end of each season. Rainfall, temperature, soil moisture and coastal weather decide what flowers and when. That, in turn, shapes the colour, texture, aroma and flavour of the honey. No two seasons are alike, and no two years repeat.
Every harvest is cold-pressed, unpasteurised, minimally filtered and never heated above hive temperature. Nothing is blended for consistency. Each jar holds one place at one moment in the year.
Across the region, Bermagooey appears in restaurants, hotels, cafés, bakeries, dairies, food vans and specialty stores, often alongside other local produce. It is also available to taste at the Bermagui Growers Market.
The Bermagooey Honey Trail follows the honey from the farm to the places that serve and stock it. It is a way to explore the Far South Coast through its food, and to take a taste of Bermagui home long after the journey ends.
