The annual Moulamein Yabby Races and Easter Fair has been delighting locals and visitors for over three decades, bringing country charm, community spirit and plenty of laughs to the Murray River region.

Held on Easter Saturday, at the Moulamein Heritage Village, this much-loved event celebrates a uniquely Australian tradition that began with a simple suggestion from local butcher Graham Walker, who told children to catch some yabbies and race them. Today, a plaque in the park commemorates those humble beginnings, and the original butcher shop – now known as the Old Butcher Shop – remains part of the town's history.

The Easter Fair offers a fantastic day out for all ages, featuring market stalls, games, a jumping castle, show bags, snow cones, raffle prizes and full access to the fascinating displays at the Moulamein Heritage Village. The Moulamein Car Club adds to the atmosphere with a showcase of vintage vehicles.

Of course, the highlight of the day is the yabby races. Participants can select their chosen crustacean and cheer it on as it scuttles towards the finish line. Race tickets are available for purchase on the day, giving everyone the chance to join in the fun.

Bring the family, enjoy the festivities and experience one of the Riverina's most unique Easter traditions.
