The Gateway Island Trail is a 4.3 kilometre sealed trail along the Murray River and Wodonga Creek.

For centuries, the Murray River and tributaries were the lifeblood of the natural world, with a plentiful supply of fish such as Murray Cod, as well as goannas, lizards and birds, all of which provided abundant hunting for the First Nations people. Possums and kangaroos were food and clothing, bush tucker was tended and harvested in the wetlands and amongst the river red gums of the Gateway Island Trail.

The 4.3 kilometre loop features sculptural works from local Aboriginal artists. The sealed trail is set in a natural landscape of gum trees and keen observers will notice an array of wildlife including platypus, wallabies, antechinus, water rats, wedgetailed eagles, kangaroos, bats and spoonbills.
