Newbridge Winter Solstice Festival
Overview
An evening, sumptuous Medieval Banquet to enjoy. Live acoustic entertainment and Tom Foolery, the lively Court Jester will interact with guests with frivolous, foolish behaviour.
The daytime Winter Solstice festivities continue with activities for visitors.
Take a stroll through the Viking Village, cheer for a favoured knight in the Jousting and Skills at Arms presentations. Witness Viking re-enactment battles at the Showground. The Young Knight School will be a favourite with the young visitors.
In the main street of Newbridge, see the talented dancing by local dance groups. There is an opportunity to see tribal belly dancing and Morris dancers perform. They like to encourage the crowd to "Have a go!" The extended street market offers a wide range of products, including products with a Medieval theme.
Come dance along as a local band creates a rock and roll vibe on the Gladstone stage. A street of performers and costumed visitors/attendees is led by the Pipe Band down the main street of Newbridge. Costume prizes for parade participants and the best-dressed stall vendors are sponsored by local businesses. In the evening fire-twirling and drums set the scene in front of the Winter Solstice bonfire. Be there to witness the lighting of the Wickerman atop of the Winter Solstice bonfire.
The event hosted by Newbridge Progress Association and supported by Blayney Shire Council.
