ReWilding Red Riding Hood at The Drill Hall

Red Riding Hood is the most well known folktale in the world. But there is a wilder, mediaeval French version, 'L'histoire de la Grand-mère', in which the heroine is a trickster who outwits her predator. The plot includes an enchanted striptease, a spot of accidental cannibalism, a daring escape and a pursuit through the forest across a dangerous river. In the Scottish tale of Tamlin, you'll meet dauntless Janet, who rescues her true love, at midnight in an enchanted forest. 

These ancient tales of daring, difficult women have mature content and are definitely not for young ears! This performance was a part of the Brisbane Anywhere Festival in May. All three shows sold out and the feedback was enthusiastic. Your tale spinner will be former local, Jenni Cargill-Strong, a nationally recognised storyteller, with award-winning albums. Jenni is well known for having hosted 'Stories in the Club' in Mullumbimby in pre-Covid days and taught storytelling for Byron College for some years. She is now based in Magandjin~Brisbane.
