A number of frogs inhabit the wetlands, however of importance is the Sloane's froglet (Crinia sloanei) - a threatened frog species occurring only within wetlands in Corowa and Albury. The protection of the froglet's habitat is vital for the conservation of this species. The River Street Wetlands are situated amongst River Red Gum herbaceous-grassy open forest wetland, a plant community dominated by River Red Gums (Eucalyptus calmaldulensis), wattles and diverse grasses, sedges, rushes and forbs.
