Mungindi Border Battle
Overview
The border town of Mungindi is set to come alive as Round Two of the Border Battle returns, bringing with it a bold splash of State of Origin spirit and a whole lot of friendly cross-border competition. With Queensland and New South Wales loyalties running strong, the Barwon River becomes the meeting point for a morning of laughter, local pride, and light-hearted rivalry.
Locals are invited to don their Maroon or Blue and gather beneath the iconic Mungindi Bridge to witness the ultimate showdown – as the Mayors of Balonne Shire and Moree Plains Shire put their pride on the line in a series of entertaining, good-natured challenges. No sporting prowess required, just a sense of humour, a bit of nerve, and plenty of community cheer.
Fuel up with a classic BBQ breakfast, enjoy face painting and family activities, and soak up the playful banter that makes this event a favourite on both sides of the border. It's a celebration of what makes Mungindi special – two states, one town, a shared love of competition, and a community that knows how to come together for a great morning of fun.
