Tanya Baily: 'Rhapsody'
Overview
Jennings Kerr is pleased to present a new solo show by Tanya Baily. The show will consist of a series of new watercolour paintings that focus on Baily's connection to the Australian coastline and translate the energy, power and movement found in waves.
Tanya Baily is an award-winning Australian artist. She explores the diverse applications of watercolour in a painting context, where historically the medium has been underrepresented. Drawn to the wildness and diversity of the Australian landscape, she spends time working en plein air and paints finished works in her studio in Sydney. Her work reflects a profound appreciation for the natural world.
Significant prizes include winner of FLOW National Watercolour Prize at Wollongong Art Gallery 2019 and winner of the Rex Irwin Prize for Mart COFA 2010. In the last 10 years
Tanya has been a finalist in major National Art Prizes . She exhibits in Sydney and internationally and is a member of the Australian Watercolour Institute.
Tanya teaches at NAS and privately. Tanya was born in London and educated at Oxford University and Chelsea School of Art. After moving to Sydney in 1998 she completed a Master of Art at COFA.
