ARCO – First Light: Music Illuminated by the Sunrise brings the Australian Romantic and Classical Orchestra to Armidale for an intimate evening of luminous chamber music.

Five of Australia's finest historically informed performers present a program inspired by light, discovery and emotional awakening. The concert features much-loved classical works alongside new Australian music, including Schubert's joyful String Quartet No.7 in D major, Mozart's radiant Larghetto from the Clarinet Quintet in A major, and the ocean-inspired contemporary work Wavelength by composer Nicole Murphy.

At the heart of the program is Haydn's celebrated 'Sunrise' Quartet, heard in a rare 18th-century clarinet arrangement that highlights the instrument's rich, warm tone.

Performed by ARCO co-artistic directors Rachael Beesley (violin) and Nicole van Bruggen (clarinet), with Alison Rayner (violin), Stephen King (viola) and Natasha Kraemer (cello), First Light offers a unique and immersive chamber music experience in the historic setting of Armidale Town Hall.
