Son of Hercules
Overview
A son is about to say goodbye to his father one last time. When a father lays in bed his son stands by, childhood roles are reversed and now the boy reads to dad a bed time book.
The choice is the story of Hyllus. He is Hercules' starry eyed son and dreams of matching his dad's legend. Deianira, the overlooked wife, hastily tries a charmed centaur's blood to spark her husband's love, not knowing the dangers that come with it. Hercules, the larger-than-life hero, returns home as past sins unravel, Hyllus confronts an unbearable choice, to let go of his father by ending his suffering.
This theatre piece weaves humour and heartache, exploring a father and son's bond in a family caught between epic dreams and human missteps.
