Hidden Lines
Overview
At what scale does something stop being what you think it is?
Join SevenMarks Gallery for the opening of Hudden Lines, a solo exhibition by Cesar Cueva and a photographic investigation into scale, light and structure.
Hidden Lines begins with a shift in scale.
Working through macro photography and focus stacking, Cueva enters material at a point where familiar objects begin to lose their identity. Fractures become lines, surfaces become planes, and small shifts in light and colour bring otherwise hidden structures into view.
Using the camera as a tool for excavation, Cueva moves between observation and exploration, searching within material rather than simply documenting it. At this scale, the minute begins to suggest the architectural and what appears familiar becomes increasingly difficult to place.
