Trundle
Overview
Trundle is a classic country town located 55kms northwest of Parkes along The Bogan Way. Surrounded by wheat, canola, sheep and cattle farms, Trundle gives visitors the chance to experience the relaxed pace and friendly hospitality of rural New South Wales.
The town's wide-open Forbes Street is one of its most notable features, measuring 60–66 metres across and recognised as New South Wales' widest main street. It makes parking easy and provides plenty of space to explore the town on foot.
At the heart of Trundle is the National Estate-listed Trundle Hotel, featuring an impressive 87.6-metre wooden verandah. A hotel has stood on the site since 1888, with the current building constructed in 1912. Built from pisé mud, or compacted earth, and rendered with cement, the hotel is a distinctive example of local construction and reflects a building style found in other historic homes around town. Inside, pressed-metal ceilings add to its historic character. Visitors can stop for a drink, enjoy a counter meal or stay overnight.
Trundle also comes alive during its popular community events, including the Trundle ABBA Festival and Trundle Bush Tucker Day. With historic buildings, country hospitality, unique local attractions and memorable events, Trundle is an easy stop for travellers exploring the Central West.
