Creative Spaces
Overview
Creative Spaces celebrates the Central Coast's vibrant creative community by providing artists with a platform to share their work, connect with the public and bring new ideas to life. Located at the Gallery Container in Toukley Village Green, the program transforms a public space into a welcoming hub for creativity, culture and community connection. Throughout the year, visitors can experience exhibitions, workshops, artist talks, installations and collaborative projects that showcase local talent and encourage creative participation.
Creative Spaces welcomes local watercolour artist Margot Hislop as Artist in Residence. Inspired by the natural world, Margot's work celebrates wildlife from the Central Coast and beyond, with a particular focus on endangered marine and terrestrial species. Combining art with education, her practice encourages a deeper appreciation of the environment and the creatures that call it home.
Coinciding with whale migration season, Margot's residency explores the journey of humpback whales along Australia's east coast through hands-on workshops and a collaborative outdoor mural. She will also shine a light on the birdlife of Tuggerah Lakes, engaging the community through workshops, school sessions and partnerships. Visitors are invited to meet the artist, get creative and connect with the unique natural environment that makes the Central Coast so special.
