Bach Akademie Australia - Bach: A life in music - Narooma
Overview
Music in the Regions in partnership with Montague Visiting Artists present Bach Akademie Australia's Bach: A Life in Music.
In this program Bach Akademie Australia gives you a window into the mind, heart and soul of a passionate musician. JS Bach was fiercely dedicated to teaching, composing his Double Violin concerto in D minor, written for his students. As were his Three Part Inventions for harpsichord.
They also perform the heartbreakingly beautiful aria "Die Seele ruht in Jesu Händen" from his Cantata BWV 127, giving us a glimpse of the inspiration his deep faith provided him.
The composer's secular cantatas also afford us a rare and delightful insight into his day-to-day life in Leipzig. These cantatas are more like mini operas, and in this program, Bach Akademie Australia perform arias from his 'Wedding Cantata', and the riotous 'Coffee Cantata', which tells the story of a disgruntled father and his coffee-obsessed daughter.
Bach: A life in Music is a portrait of the complete Bach, both at work and at home, a life well lived through music.
