Now in its third year, Young Dobell is an annual exhibition featuring artworks from the Young Dobell Art Competition. The exhibition celebrates young artists aged 5 to 18 from Lake Macquarie, Newcastle, Port Stephens, Maitland, the Hunter and the Central Coast.

The competition is named after Sir William Dobell, a three-time Archibald Prize winner who lived in Lake Macquarie. He was known for his portraits and landscape artworks as well as paintings of his beloved dogs.
