An exhibition and participatory making space by Helene Power

In an age of fast fashion and disposable culture, What Remains invites audiences to slow down and reconsider the value of clothing, fabric and what is left behind.

Presented in the Make/Space at Coffs Central, local sustainable fashion designer Helene Power transforms reclaimed textiles and fabric remnants into tactile pieces and garments that celebrate repair, reuse, and mindful making.

Through slow stitch techniques, hand construction, and analogue processes, discarded materials are reimagined as artworks, objects, and storytelling devices. The exhibition highlights the beauty found in imperfection, mending, and material memory while encouraging conversations around sustainability, creativity, and conscious consumption.

Visitors are invited not only to observe but also to participate in the act of making — exploring stitching, piecing, and textile experimentation using reclaimed fabrics and salvaged materials.

Throughout the week, visitors are invited to participate in slow stitch workshops that encourage mindfulness and demonstrate how small acts of repair and handmaking can become powerful responses to waste and overconsumption.
