Ocean Heroes- Ballina
Overview
Ocean Heroes is returning to Ballina, bringing its much-loved surfing experience back to one of the region's favourite beaches. Ocean Heroes is dedicated to improving the wellbeing of people on the autism spectrum and their families through the joy of surfing, connection and time in the ocean.
Having supported more than 10,000 participants across Australia, the Ocean Heroes team is excited to once again deliver a safe, supportive and uplifting day by the sea in Ballina.
On the day, participants will arrive at the beach to check in before being paired one-on-one with an experienced surfer. Each child enters the ocean at their own pace, with sessions carefully tailored to individual comfort and ability levels.
All essential equipment is provided, including surfboards, wetsuits, lifejackets and qualified surf instructors, along with plenty of encouragement and positive energy. For safety, wearing a life jacket in the water is compulsory for all participants.
Families are encouraged to bring bathers, towels and warm clothes for after surfing. Ocean Heroes merchandise will also be available for purchase on the day.
A heart-warming community event celebrating inclusion, confidence and the power of the ocean.
