Byron Bay Ocean Swim Classic

The Byron Bay Ocean Swim Classic is a much-loved open-water swimming event set against the stunning coastline of Byron Bay. Part of the Winter Whales program, the event features two swim options designed to suit different experience levels, with multiple age categories in each race.

The flagship event, the Byron Bay Property Sales Ocean Swim Classic, covers an approximate 2.2km course from Wategos Beach to Main Beach. This iconic swim follows a buoyed route from the start area, around The Pass and across the bay, offering experienced ocean swimmers a challenging and rewarding coastal swim.

For those newer to ocean swimming, the Byron Bay Chocolate Co Dash provides a shorter 800m course from Clarkes Beach to Main Beach. Designed to be more accessible, this swim encourages confident pool swimmers and emerging ocean swimmers to take part and experience the excitement of an organised open-water event. It's also open to younger participants, making it a popular entry point for families and junior swimmers.
