Community Bank Braidwood Airing of the Quilts
Overview
Over two unforgettable days, the historic streets of Braidwood transforms into a vibrant open-air gallery, with spectacular quilts draped from the town's iconic 19th-century verandas. Wander through the charming heritage village and experience breathtaking quilt displays set against one of Australia's best-preserved historic streetscapes.
In 1995, twenty-five quilts mysteriously appeared, hanging from first-floor verandah rails in Braidwood. Since then, the fourth weekend of November has been the time for Braidwood and the wider region's quilters to air their quilts and celebrate their craft.
2026 marks the 31st Anniversary of the Airing of the Quilts in Braidwood, an event that honours the age-old practice of hanging your quilts out after the long cold winter. This act heralds the true coming of spring, especially in Braidwood with its almost alpine climate. The town's State Heritage listed building facades and 19th century verandahs are adorned with beautiful quilts from far and wide, with visitors coming from around the region and country to witness this textile spectacle.
