The harvest has hit NSW and there are festivals aplenty across the state! Whether you want to sip cool-climate wines, indulge in sumptuous dishes or enjoy twilight markets, there’s something fun for everyone to join in on this month.
Check out the best events around NSW this October and start your adventure.
Head to Bathurst this month for the ultimate supercar championship. See racing legends from past and present battle it out for glory in a series of heart-stopping races, including the unforgiving 1000 kilometre endurance race the event takes its name from. Known as ‘The Great Race’ the Bathurst 1000 is a must-see for fans of motorsport.
Take in beautiful sights of the beautiufl Jacaranda trees in bloom at the Grafton Jacaranda Festival this month. The festival’s huge program of events starts with the crowning of the Jacaranda Queen and Princesses and includes market stalls, entertainment, live acts, lots of family fun and a colourful float parade. Join the crowds as the oldest flower festival in the country showcases the purple petals of the Jacaranda in style.
Come and celebrate as the Orange Wine Festival returns for another year. Taste superb local produce and cool-climate wines over two weeks of events and fun activities. This year’s festival also coincides with the 20th anniversary of Orange appellation and has a program of over 90 events perfect for wine connoisseurs – including signature events like the Orange Wine Show Tasting and Wine Central.
Eat and drink to your heart’s content at the Taste Riverina Food Festival this month. Feast your eyes on a month-long ‘menu of events’ sure to tempt foodies across NSW. The festival comes after the collaborative efforts of food producers and industry insiders in the region created an event to celebrate the year’s harvest, showcasing the best in local agricultural produce, wine, beer and more. Events include recipes competitions, workshops and cookery classes, agricultural tours and degustation dinners.
Take your tastebuds on a journey of discovery as Tastings on Hastings returns to the Port Macquarie foreshore. Now in its 15th year, the food and drink festival celebrates local farmers, food producers, wine growers, brewers, restaurants and more over the course of a weekend of tasty treats. The main event will be held on the Saturday, where stalls of local food and drink vendors will come together to showcase their best dishes in a festival atmosphere complete with live music and entertainment.
Head to Dubbo and enjoy the Dream twilight markets as part of the Dream Festival Dubbo. Dream Festival is a celebration of creativity, with events showcasing the best in music, art and more. The twilight markets will be filled with stalls for food and drink, arts and crafts and artisanal products, as well as entertainment and a kids play area. Don’t miss the DREAM Lantern Parade and light show, where giant animal lanterns and spectacular lights will close out the night.
