Michael is a 27 year old, proudly self-taught photographer born, raised and still living in Nowra on the South Coast of New South Wales.

Growing up in an area surrounded by some of the world’s best beaches, untouched forests and thousands of hectares of National park has not only fueled Michael’s passion for photographing the landscape but his love for exploring every natural asset the area has to offer.

I’m lucky enough to live in a beautiful part of the world, I’ve spent years exploring the area but I don’t think I’ve even seen 10% of what there is to see which is why I make an effort to explore and photograph the hidden gems that may not have been photographed in this way before. I generally try to stay away from the more popular photographic attractions, they’ve been shot to death over the years and it’s getting harder and harder to shoot an original photo that stands out amongst all the others, so hopefully the couple that I’ve included in this gallery tick the box.

In the ‘early days’ I was using a combination of 35mm, medium format and digital to shoot photos for cycling magazines as well as doing weddings and family portraits. Landscapes were always something that I photographed in my spare time for myself, years went by and I wouldn’t even share any of my landscape photos with anyone. 3 or 4 years ago I stopped doing the weddings and sports photography and it was like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders, the passion was back, I was enjoying photography again and I decided it was time to start sharing my landscapes with people.

Over the past 5 years or so I’ve had exhibitions, work published, won awards locally and internationally and been lucky enough to travel to some truly amazing locations in Australia and overseas to shoot photos but my greatest achievement is having my photos hanging on the walls of people homes. For someone to love one of my photos so much that they want to bring it into their home to be seen every day is one of the biggest compliments I could ever hope to receive.
