Chris is starting to feel the show is becoming repetitive and decides that a fresh approach is needed to give the show a greater point of difference.  Determined to salvage some content from the Hunter Valley, the Plonk guys secure a meeting with Semillon guru Andrew Thomas. However Nathan’s obsession with wine barrels in shot begins to test Chris’ patience, eventually spilling out in front of the talent. Thomas is not impressed.

With their tail between their legs, the team drive to Mudgee where Chris’ disillusionment with TV and the Plonk project results in a dramatic ‘tree change’. With Chris now working in a local cheese dairy, Plonk is without a host. Nathan resorts to desperate measures and promotes Josh. A move that enrages Chris, who sheds his new country persona and reclaims his place as Plonk’s one true host.
